product details

Alder is the fastest-lighting log we sell. It catches straight away, throws a bright, dancing flame and gives off a gentle, sweet scent as it burns, which is why it’s the one for open fires, pizza ovens and a quick evening in front of the stove. Want heat that lasts all night? Pair it with oak.

Every log is kiln dried to under 18% moisture, well inside the Ready to Burn limit (certificate WS6414), so it lights first time, burns clean and keeps your stove glass clear. Cut to 25cm to fit any UK stove, open fire or firepit.

Packed in a 60-litre woven bag inside a sturdy box: around 20–30 logs, 17–19kg, no mess, no loose load. Order by 2pm and it’s at your door the next working day, free, tracked by DHL. Stocking up? Eight woven bags is a bulk bag’s worth, and 24 is a crate. Not happy with your logs? Tell us within 14 days and we’ll put it right.

storage & lighting

Storing

Keep the box somewhere dry and off the ground: a garage, shed, porch or covered log store. Kiln dried logs take moisture back in if they’re left out in the weather, so don’t leave them uncovered.

Lighting

  • Two or three alder logs on a bed of kindling, one firelighter underneath.
  • Air vents fully open until the logs are well caught, then close down to taste.
  • Alder burns quickly, so top up little and often; pair it with oak if you want the fire to run late.

Stop fighting damp logs on an open fire

Alder is the fastest-lighting log we sell. It catches straight away, throws a bright, dancing flame and gives off a gentle, sweet scent as it burns. The one for open fires, pizza ovens and a quick evening in front of the stove. Every log is kiln dried to under 18% moisture and checked with a meter before it leaves us. That’s why it lights first go, burns hot and clean, and doesn’t tar up your glass or flue.

Better fires start with bone dry wood

Most open fire problems come from burning wood that’s still wet inside.

Title

Typical seasoned firewood

Slower, more frustrating fires that can take longer to properly get going

Excess moisture creates heavier smoke and more smouldering around the firepit

More of the fire’s energy is wasted drying the logs instead of producing usable heat

Kiln dried alder, under 18% moisture

Catches straight away, no coaxing, no kindling mountain

A bright, lively flame and a gentle, sweet scent

Clean burning, so it suits open fires and pizza ovens

Everything you need for a better fire.
