product details

Kiln dried hardwood split thin for the pizza oven. At 2 to 7cm across, each piece catches in seconds and burns hot and clean, so the oven comes up to temperature fast and holds it, with no smoke tainting the food and no chemical taste.

Feed it one piece at a time once the oven is hot; thin splits burn down clean rather than smouldering. They do the same job in a firepit or chiminea. The logs are a standard 22 to 25cm long, so check your oven takes a 25cm log before ordering; some smaller ovens won’t.

An 18kg box of ash, birch and oak, kiln dried to under 18% moisture, well inside the Ready to Burn limit (certificate WS6414), and boxed so it arrives clean and dry. Order by 2pm and it’s with you the next working day, free, tracked by DHL. Not happy? Tell us within 14 days and we’ll put it right.

storage & lighting

Storing

Keep the box somewhere dry and off the ground: a shed, garage or covered spot by the oven. Kiln dried logs take moisture back in if they’re left out in the weather.

Lighting the oven

  • One firelighter and a handful of kindling in the centre of the oven floor, two or three small logs on top.
  • Let it build for 15–20 minutes, then push the fire to the back or side and add a log at a time to hold the heat.
  • Feed with one log at a time once the oven’s hot; the flame should roll across the roof, not pour out of the door.

Stop waiting for the oven to get hot

Title

The same kiln dried ash, birch and oak as our logs, split thin, 2 to 7cm across instead of a full log. Thin splits catch in seconds and burn hot, so the oven comes up to temperature fast and you feed it one piece at a time to hold the heat, rather than fighting a lump that won’t catch. Same job in a firepit or chiminea. The logs are a standard 22 to 25cm long, so check your oven takes a 25cm log before you order; some smaller ovens won’t. Every log is kiln dried to under 18% moisture and checked with a meter before it leaves us. That’s why it lights first go, burns hot and clean, and doesn’t tar up the oven.

Better fires start with bone dry wood

Smoky pizza and a slow oven both come from logs that are still wet inside.

Title

Typical seasoned firewood

Slower, more frustrating fires that can take longer to properly get going

Excess moisture creates heavier smoke and more smouldering around the firepit

More of the fire’s energy is wasted drying the logs instead of producing usable heat

Kiln dried pizza oven logs, split thin

Up to temperature fast, and holds it

No smoke taint, no chemical taste

Split thin, so it catches fast and feeds one piece at a time

Everything you need for a better fire.
