Better fires start with bone dry wood
Title
One firelighter, a handful of kindling, two or three logs on top, vents open. That’s the whole routine, and it works first time because the kindling is as dry as the logs. Kiln dried sticks in breathable nets: no bark dust, no damp, no splitting your own. Keep them in the garage, the porch or next to the stove and they stay dry until you need them.
A fire that won’t catch is nearly always damp kindling, not damp logs.
Typical seasoned firewood
Slower, more frustrating fires that can take longer to properly get going
Excess moisture creates heavier smoke and more smouldering around the firepit
More of the fire’s energy is wasted drying the logs instead of producing usable heat
Kiln dried kindling, 5 nets
Catches from a single firelighter, no coaxing
Dry, clean, consistent sticks, no bark dust
Breathable nets, stays dry wherever you keep it
