Why Summer Is the Best Time to Stock Up on Logs

July 18, 2025

When most people think about buying firewood, it’s usually already cold outside—and by then, prices are up, stock is tight, and delivery is slow.
That’s why buying logs in summer isn’t just smart—it’s cheaper, easier, and gives you peace of mind for the whole winter.

If you’ve got a log burner, chiminea, fire pit or pizza oven, this is your reminder to get sorted now while the weather’s good and the shelves are full.

Why Summer Is The Perfect Time To Buy Firewood.

Prices Always Rise in Winter

Every year, the same thing happens: demand for logs skyrockets as soon as temperatures drop.
Suppliers run low, couriers get overloaded, and prices go up across the board—not just for the logs themselves, but for delivery too. By stocking up in summer, you lock in today’s prices and avoid the winter surge.

Winter Deliveries Are a Nightmare

Heavy parcels like firewood aren’t easy for couriers at the best of times—and when it’s freezing, snowy or flooded, deliveries get delayed. Ordering in summer means faster, smoother delivery. You avoid backlogs, missed drop-offs, and damaged packaging from bad weather. We still make sure to guarantee our Next Day Delivery, but our drivers prefer summer deliveries!

Store Your Logs Properly and They’ll Stay Perfect

A lot of people ask, “Won’t the logs go bad if I buy them too early?”
The answer is no—as long as you store them right.

Kiln-dried logs are ready to burn straight away, but they’ll stay just as good if you keep them somewhere dry and ventilated. A log store, garage, shed, or even under a tarpaulin with airflow is fine.

Our logs are all certified under the Ready to Burn scheme, meaning they’re below 20% moisture, fully seasoned, and won’t degrade as long as you keep them covered.

Buying early lets you take your time stacking and storing properly, without rushing to get them indoors in the rain.

Why You Should Order Logs in Summer

Avoid winter price rises and stock shortages.

Couriers handle logs better in dry weather.

Summer is the best time to stack and cover your logs properly.

Kiln-dried logs stored well will burn even cleaner after extra months of seasoning.

No panic-buying in December when stock is low.

Logs aren’t just for winter—chimineas, BBQ smokers, and fire pits are summer favourites too.

Planning ahead when it comes to firewood isn’t just about convenience—it’s about making sure you’ve got reliable stock ready for when you need it. Whether you’re heating your home, firing up a log burner for cosy evenings, or running a pizza oven, having kiln-dried logs in your store before the weather turns is always the smarter move.
