We can only guarantee kerbside drop-off, but drivers are friendly and will usually try their best to get the pallet where you want it as long as access and ground conditions allow.

Deliveries run 8am–6pm, Monday–Friday. For full details on access requirements, vehicles and tracking, see our delivery information.
DESCRIPTION
Our kiln-dried Alder logs offer clean, reliable heat with a moisture content below 20%. Alder lights quickly, produces a steady bright flame and leaves minimal residue, making it ideal for log burners, multi-fuel stoves and fire pits. The Ready to Burn moisture level ensures consistent performance and efficient heat in all modern appliances, with a noticeably cleaner burn than seasoned wood.
Each crate is tightly hand-stacked to reduce air gaps and provide strong value. A full crate is roughly equivalent to 1.8m³ of loose-filled logs, giving far more usable wood than bags or totes. Alder sits between Birch and Oak in burn characteristics, and the wood-burning chart offers an easy comparison across species. Our full crate range, including Birch and Oak, gives customers flexibility depending on the flame profile and heat output they prefer.
Every crate contains 100% Alder with no mixing. Kiln drying ensures a hotter and cleaner burn, improved stove efficiency and reduced soot build-up. Before dispatch, each crate is fitted with a shower-resistant cover and fully shrink-wrapped for protection during transit. More details on how your pallet arrives can be found in the delivery information.

Alder is a favourite for fast-starting fires thanks to its lower density and clean kiln-dried finish. It catches quickly and produces immediate warmth without needing intense airflow or heavy kindling.
Although it burns faster than denser hardwoods, alder delivers impressive heat intensity, making it ideal for rapid room warming or shorter burning sessions during the day.
For regular burners who prefer efficient, easy-to-manage fires rather than slow all-night logs, alder provides a stable, responsive flame that’s simple to control in modern stoves.
Many experienced stove users combine alder with slower woods like oak or hornbeam — using alder to establish a strong base before loading longer-burning logs for extended heat.
Is alder good firewood for log burners?
Yes — alder is an excellent hardwood for log burners when kiln-dried. It lights quickly, produces strong early heat and gives a bright flame, making it ideal for everyday use or as a fire starter.
How fast does alder firewood burn?
Alder burns faster than dense hardwoods like oak or hornbeam. It provides quick, high heat but won’t last as long per log, making it ideal for shorter fires or topping up during the day.
Is oak better than alder for burning?
Oak burns longer due to its higher density, while alder burns faster but gets up to temperature more quickly. Alder is ideal for quick, hot burns or fire starting, whereas oak is better for long, slow heat.
Is alder a hardwood or softwood?
Alder is a hardwood, but it’s one of the lighter varieties. It sits between softwood and dense hardwoods in terms of burn time — but produces a cleaner, hotter flame than typical softwoods.
Is alder firewood right for my stove?
Most modern stoves handle alder very well. It’s particularly good for users who burn frequently and prefer responsive, easy-to-control heat without waiting long for the fire to build.
How are alder crates delivered, and how fast is delivery?
Alder crates are delivered via tail-lift lorry on a pallet. Drivers will usually place the crate in your preferred spot if access is flat and clear. Orders placed before the cut-off are typically dispatched the same working day for next working day delivery.
