Crate Delivery Made Simple

Hornbeam crates are delivered on a full pallet via tail-lift lorry. Although it is technically a kerbside service, in most cases drivers will place the crate wherever you’d like it — as long as there is safe, flat access for the pallet truck. It’s rare they leave it at the kerb if access is clear.

Orders placed before the daily cut-off are dispatched the same working day; anything after will go the next working day. Delivery is next working day from dispatch. Your crate arrives fully stacked, secure, and burn-ready — no drying, no sorting, just straight into storage or the stove.

Hornbeam's Excellent Fire Performance

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Hornbeam a good wood for log burners?

Yes — hornbeam is an excellent hardwood for log burners. It burns hot, produces long-lasting embers, and works especially well in modern stoves thanks to its dense structure and low moisture content when kiln-dried.

How long does hornbeam wood last?

Hornbeam burns longer than softer woods like birch and produces a steady heat. It doesn't burn quite as long as oak, but still delivers extended burn times with strong embers that hold heat well.

Is oak the best firewood for long burns?

Oak is known for having one of the longest burn times of any hardwood. However, hornbeam is often seen as a strong alternative — it lights slightly easier and still gives a long, powerful burn with good ember retention.

Is hornbeam better than oak?

It depends on preference. Oak generally burns the longest, while hornbeam offers a great balance of long burn time, strong heat output, and easier ignition. Many regular stove users choose hornbeam for its intensity and reliability.

Is hornbeam right for my log burner?

Most modern wood-burning stoves handle hornbeam very well. Its dense structure and low moisture content make it suitable for consistent heating. If you use your burner regularly in winter, hornbeam is a strong, dependable choice.

How are log crates delivered, and how fast is delivery?

Crates are delivered on a pallet via tail-lift lorry. Although classed as kerbside delivery, drivers will usually place the crate where you want it if access is clear and flat. Orders placed before the daily cut-off are dispatched the same working day, and delivery is typically next working day from dispatch.
